Now that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, somehow the flavors of fall that we crave seem to change right along with the leaves! So as you plan the appetizers and cocktails to serve at your gathering, think of fuller-bodied tastes and textures, fruits in season, plus aromatic herbs and spices. To present these tempting suggestions we discovered, we’ve concocted our own autumn appetizer-cocktail pairings—though we’d actually love to just have them all! Smoked Salmon Canapes and Apple Cider Whiskey Sparkler The appetizer: These healthy bites are flakes of smoked salmon served on rye bread squares and drizzled with a light, lemony vinaigrette.
The cocktail: A basic mulled cider of apple, lemon, and orange plus spices gets its kick from honey-flavored whiskey and its sparkly fizz from Prosecco.

The cocktail: Here’s a party-pretty blend of whiskey, amaretto liqueur, and cranberry juice, with fresh cranberries tossed in for garnish.

Camembert Stuffed Fig Puffs + Vanilla, Pear and Vodka Cocktail The appetizer: This spin on the classic figs-and-cheese pairing is sure to wow guests! Fresh figs are split into sections to hold cubes of Camembert cheese and a sprig of thyme, and baked atop puff pastry squares.
The cocktail: This is a perfect in-season concoction of pear nectar and vodka, flavored with vanilla bean scrapings and served in glasses with vanilla sugar on the rims.

Fried Ravioli and Pumpkin Pineapple Cocktail The appetizer: In this crunchy version of ravioli, cheese-filled pasta shells are breaded and deep-fried, then served with a marinara sauce for dipping.
The cocktail: Pumpkins are, of course, autumn staples. Here, pumpkin puree, pineapple juice, and dark rum are flavored with lemon juice, vanilla, cloves, ginger, allspice, and a dash of cinnamon on top.
