Pinwheels are the most delightful way to give party favors a whimsical spin (literally)! At kiddie parties, in particular, the little ones are instantly drawn to their fun blend of colors and patterns, and of course their whirly, twirly movement. Plus pinwheels are a breeze to DIY, so what’s not to love about them?

Our roundup here features favor ideas that are more than just cute playthings, though. We chose those with a useful angle (do we hear sighs of relief from moms?), plus those that make the prettiest packaging!

So Much Fun! And So Pretty, too!

Pinwheel party favor ideas and packaging for birthdays and baby showers

1 – Rainbow colors – Little party guests would be thrilled to take home these festive favors in such cheery rainbow colors! Available from etsy vendor Pinwheel Pretties.

2 – Cookies – Adorable sugar cookies are decorated with sherbet-colored pinwheels, as part of an entire party fabulously decked out in this theme! Styled by Boutique Affairs, featured on Party Wagon.

3 – Candy holders – Tubes filled with candy get an extra touch of pinwheel sweetness. And you get an easy tutorial via Pebbles in My Pocket.

4 – Lollipop boxes – Darling polkadot pinwheel enclosures for lollipops, offered in a variety of colors at etsy shop Simple Tastes.

5 & 6 – Toppers – The tiniest pinwheels decorate cork-stoppered candy bottles, via Dot Coms for Moms (note: site link doesn’t work). While a cheery trio brings a playful finishing touch to cupcake favors seen on Lisa Storms.

Pinwheels used as packaging accents for favors

7 – Pencils – Cute patterned pencils topped with mini pinwheels that ‘actually spin,’ as described by source aubabi78 on etsy.

8 & 9 – Gift trimmings – Traditional ribbons can be replaced with pinwheel embellishments, as in these fabric-bundled gifts seen on Pinterest and these pastel-colored take-out boxes at a real baby shower featured on Balancing Home.

Is your mind all a-whirl now with pinwheel inspiration? We certainly hope so—whether you’ll be giving them as party favors or using them as packaging trims!
