Fabulous Feature: First Birthday Party with a Paper Doll Theme

Remember those days of paper dolls that we would dress up in little paper outfits? (Okay, so now those are referred to as ‘vintage’!) But they make the most delightful theme for a little girl’s party. And sweet proof indeed is this charming first birthday party with a paper doll theme, styled by Julia Herzog of Festa Com Gosto in Brazil!

The Cake and Dessert Buffet

Of course, the star of this display is the birthday cake—in pretty pink ombre hues coupled with ruffled icing and finished with a dainty blue bow. But our personal favorites are the adorable paper doll cookies! Baked and decorated by Isa Herzog, they make the most darling party bunting for the dessert buffet. Don’t you just love the different dress designs? Then, the same paper doll motif appears as toppers for the cupcakes and as graphics on the food cards.

Other pretty treats are brigadeiros in jars with tiny spoons, pink cake pops topped with fondant ‘doilies,’ and more mini cupcakes—all displayed on sweet beribboned cake stands. And for drinks, juice bottles wrapped in dainty paper doilies.

The Favor Display Table

As if all that cuteness wasn’t enough, Julia had also prepared a separate table of sweets and treats for the party guests to take as they wished. We spot candies in lace-covered bottles, more cake pops, caramels, marshmallow twists, and bags of cotton candy! And to tie this table into the theme, it’s adorned with a paper doll graphic on a doily-and-tissue paper fan with pastel-colored balloons overhead.

If you visit the full post, you’ll even see a vintage-style pram used to display more favor packages for the guests. So sweet!

The Table Settings at the Guest Table

For guests to enjoy the party treats, a simple long table awaits, adorned with more paper doilies as a table runner (Julia admits that doilies are her fave!). While paper plates and cups and sweet floral arrangements in jars pick up the pastel color scheme. Proof indeed that pretty need not be fussy!

Birthday Wishes Table

Finally, for guests to leave wishes and greetings for the little birthday girl, an elegant side table stands ready. There are cards with the paper doll motif and ribbons to tie them on to a modern metal stand. Another bunch of pastel balloons adds a whimsical finishing touch!

Just goes to show what you can do with a well-loved memory, like paper dolls, to style an entire sweet party theme around. Thank you so much for the inspiration for this first birthday party, Julia!
