Go Color Crazy with an Alice in Wonderland Theme

Alice in Wonderland Children's Tea Party

“Curiouser and curiouser” and definitely colorful! That’s the look you can create for an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party (from Bellenza) —and with such doable decor elements, too. Just use solid-colored fabric in rainbow hues for the table runner and chair bands, plus multi-colored napkins, mismatched tea cups, and ribbon, crinkle paper and confetti scattered about. So fun and easy!

You can’t go wrong with a sweet color palette like this! Just stick to it across all your tea party table decorations (as shown on Jenny Cookies)—from paired plates and saucers, tea cups, serve ware, tinted glass vases, hanky-style napkins, and a lovely centerpiece of fresh flowers. And you’ll have the most charming tablescape set against a bare wood tabletop.

Garden Party Gorgeous in Lavender

For a tween celebrant, perhaps you’d like to create a more ladylike garden tea party ambiance with an elegant color pairing (found via Linen Tablecloth). A purple tablecloth anchors all the other table details in shades of lavender and lilac—a floral garland serving as a table runner, an arrangement of silk hydrangeas and lavender sprigs, and more hydrangeas in a Moroccan lantern. And isn’t that the cutest ferris wheel cupcake display?

If vintage is the look you’re aiming for, then this darling summer girls tea party setting (from Love Thy Room) offers great inspiration. Sitting atop a lovely lace table overlay is an array of charmingly mismatched tea party ware—dinner and dessert plates, teapot, teacups and saucers, cookie plates, and candy bowls. Then, notice how the goblets of pink lemonade add the perfect little girl touch!

Fairy Garden Tea Party Tablescape

Even indoors, you can capture the magic of a fairy garden on your tea party tablescape (as inspired by Domestic Fashionista). The key elements are a vignette-style centerpiece of greenery in earthenware pots and planters, then flowers and butterflies all over. You see them in the pastel-colored table linens, the dainty dessert plates, the teacups and saucers, and the napkin accents. So sweet!

Now, for some royal treatment at a princess-themed tea party (courtesy of Celebrations at Home), go for a tablescape in pink and gold. The star of the table is definitely the crown-topped centerpiece, combining pink roses, carnations, and baby’s breath on an ornate gold display stand. Then cupcake stands made from vintage saucers on painted candlesticks continue the regal look, along with glass plateware on doily placemats.

Princess and Butterfly-themed Tea Party Tablescape

Styling by The Pink Dream

Perhaps this is for a “fairy princess” birthday girl, since we see giant butterfly wings adorning this adorable princess tea party tablescape (from The Pink Dream). Great tips here are the gorgeous vintage-style paper plates and tea cups and saucers perfect for little guests, and the  kiddie-size lucite chairs that can be reused for different birthday themes. You can use grownup vases and pots for the floral centerpieces.

Princess Tea Party Table with Lego

This example is not quite a party tablescape, but you can certainly include some of the amazing elements on your tea party tables. Yes, that princess castle and pastry stand are made of Lego (spotted on Lego.com, of course!). You could use parts of these as place setting accents, place card holders, napkin trims, and even as party favors. Notice the recycled bottles and jars, too, used as mini vases and juice glasses.

Spa Day Tea Party Tablescape

Quite a popular party theme for little girls is a spa day. So why not plan a spa day tea party (as shown on The Seaside Baker) decked out in tropical style? Love the vibrant under-the-sea tablecloth in pink and mint green, matched with tropical-print napkins, pineapple and flower centerpieces, bamboo cutlery, and pink tinted drinking glasses. Definitely a fun spin on a tea party!
