Candy and dessert table

One fabulous thing (among many!) about a spring bridal shower is that you can fete the bride-to-be outdoors. And not just anywhere outdoors, but in a most enchanting flower garden setting. This means that you get to incorporate the surrounding floral elements into the entire party decor—including a delightful spring-themed candy and dessert table with a hint of shabby chic!

As with all sweets tables, too, the treats themselves serve as perfect decorative pieces, along with the cake stands, platters, glass ware, and bottles used to display them. So if you’re planning an intimate gathering for a bride this spring, do take a look at our approach to styling an oh-so-pretty sweets table inspired by a garden setting.

Use Charming Stands and Serve Ware

As any party stylist will tell you, a key ingredient in turning a desserts display into fabulous eye candy is the use of serve ware to show off the goodies to best advantage! Here, we selected vintage-style ceramic cake stands that not only matched our party palette of pink and white, but also had gracefully scalloped edging and fluted bases.

We complemented these with several other charming containers—a mini candy jar, a white cutwork planter, a vintage milk bottle, even a dainty tea cup balanced atop a sorbet glass. Nothing fancy or costly here. But with all their different heights and varied shapes, the result is a happy hodge-podge that somehow all works together!

Choose Pretty Treats to Showcase the Table

And what makes the display work? It’s the other key ingredient: the selection of scrumptious desserts all within your chosen palette! Notice how we set out pink and white macarons, strawberry-glazed mini doughnuts (see below), and strawberry- and chocolate-flavored wafers (see below). So they’re all tied together by color.

Even the decorative accents we added are all color coordinated. In keeping with the flower garden theme, we used little bunches of pink blooms in floral-patterned china, pink and white paper doilies, and candy treats all in varying shades of pink, white, and yellow. Lastly, we also added a touch of brown to contrast pink.
