When searching for scents to use as favors, lavender may not always come up as a popular choice, however, it isn’t just for linen closets and drawers anymore. The calming scent of lavender lends itself as a wonderful favor idea for a bridal shower party. You can simply wrap a sprig of lavender with a raffia ribbon to create something simple, but if you want to present a fanciful and fun favor; try out some of these creative ideas using lavender as an herb for making sweet treats:
Lavender Infused with Something Sweet
Since the time of ancient Roman civilization, lavender was used as an herbal ingredient for flavoring sweet and desserts. This inventive application has paved the way for a variety of products. For example, we can now find jam, honey, and even sugar infused with lavender, which can serve as unique favors for a wedding shower with a culinary or kitchen theme. Using a pretty organza wrap, you can give a jar of honey or a tin of lavender sugar. Here, we’ve presented a jar of lavender honey wrapped in a 17″ lilac circle. For an extra special touch, you can also attach a favorite pastry recipe for scones, cupcakes, or muffins.
Personalization Tip #1: Attach a personalized recipe card with your name and date of the event, or just include your initials on each card for a simple favor tag.
Chocolate Truffles with a Hint of Lavender
Chocolate artisans have also utilized lavender as a sophisticated flavor for truffles. Chocolate infused with lavender makes an uncommon yet elegant favor especially for a shower with an extravagant Marie Antoinette theme. In this example, we’ve placed a delectable chocolate truffle together with a pastry cup into a porcelain keepsake box with an elegant fleur-de-lis motif. Do remember that when presenting chocolates as favors at a summer party, be sure to have them wrapped with tissue or cellophane to help prevent melting, or just store them in a cool area at the event.
Personalization Tip #2: For a truly French-inspired favor, tie these boxes individually with a different color of ribbon in red, blue, and white, or you can choose periwinkle. Finish it with a silver tag printed with the phrase “joie de vivre” meaning the “joy of life.”
Cookies Baked with Subtle Lavender Buds
Lavender buds, including honey and sugar, have been used as unusual yet flavorful ingredients for baking cookies and cakes. When planning a shower with a French country theme, lavender cookies and even brownies can make scrumptious treats for guests. To package them, you can wrap these goodies in organza favor bags decorated with a beautiful lavender motif. Here, we’ve presented some French Madeleine cookies as lovely tea party favors - great when having a party with a French country-inspired theme in pretty pastel shades of yellow and lilac. For a romantic favor, you can also present heart-shaped cookies made with lavender, click to read more about this recipe.
