St. Patricks’ Day Decorations for the Home: Ideas You Can Make!

St. Paddy-inspired Accent Pieces for Your Home

Not Irish? No problem! As the saying goes, "Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day." So the coming weeks are your chance to "go green" with your home decor in honor of dear old St. Paddy on March 17th—and spruce your space up just in time for spring on March 20th!

Sure, you may include the traditional shamrocks, pots of gold, and cheeky little leprechauns. But you can also decorate with greenery, using houseplants and cut flowers. Plus you can craft your own DIY projects and upcycle pieces you already have, using our finds below for inspiration. Here’s wishing you "the luck o’ the Irish" with your spring home decorating! St. Patricks’ Day Decorations for the Home

1 – St. Patrick’s Day clay pot planters – Thanks to The Merry Thought, you can have the cutest little potted plants for a window sill, book shelf, or table top—with mini clay pots, white and gold paint, and a few artful brush strokes.

2 – Lucky penny letters – This project from Made by Marzipan can be made by you! Transform craft store 3D letters in paper mache or wood into a "lucky sign" with a coat of copper paint and glued-on pennies.

3 – Balloon shamrock backdrop – Brittany of The House that Lars Built shows how to assemble this super-fun balloon display in the shape of a giant shamrock. Great for an on-cam backdrop at a virtual St. Patrick’s Day party, don’t you think?

4 – Lucky St. Patrick’s Day shadow box – A lovely accent piece for a mantel, side table, or desk, this project by Tauni Everett uses a store-bought frame, green and gold-glitter cardstock, and machine-cut "Lucky" lettering (which you could also do by hand).

5 – St. Patrick’s Day wreath – Feel free to add your own Irish touches to the green and white paper flowers on this basic wreath from Dollar Tree. A delightful St. Paddy’s Day welcome for your front door.

6 – St. Patrick’s Day tiered tray display – We love how decorating with tiered trays is such fun! Dining Delight seems to agree, with this adorable display of Irish knick-knacks, including mugs, dish towels, and faux greenery.

7 – St. Patrick’s Day sign – Now, here’s "going green" literally! Not only is the design a clover leaf, but it’s filled in with sheet moss cut to shape and glued onto the framed canvas. Check out the tutorial from My Recipe Confessions.

8 – Belleek Irish Cottage Teapot flower arrangement – This is just one element on a full St. Patrick’s Day tablescape by Mary of Home is Where the Boat Is (you should see the rest!). But it shows how a themed container, like this charming teapot, can make a striking centerpiece. Just add pretty flowers and foliage.

We hope these ideas for St. Patrick’s Day and spring decorations help you "get your green on" this March!
