A Vintage-themed Sweet 16 Party by Where My Heart Is

A vintage theme for a Sweet 16 celebration? You may think that’s a bit unusual. But as Jess of Where My Heart Is shows, it can work beautifully! For her own daughter’s 16th birthday bash, she decorated, crafted, cooked, and hosted her way through this charming at-home gathering. We love how totally doable everything is! And how Jess combined an “oldies” theme with a really fun Fashion Shoot. The guests had a blast primping and posing away as only teenage girls can do (check out the fab fashionista pics in the full post)!

Here, we showcase the lovely decorating details. Enjoy!

Vintage Sweet 16 Party with Styling by Where My Heart Is

Notice how the styling is easily something you could pull off in your own home as well—with a few creative accents to bring in the vintage vibe:

  1. a long party table for a total of 12 young ladies, with simple place settings prettied up with napkins in varied colors and prints
  2. charming centerpieces composed of one or two blooms each in clear glass vases and bottles running the length of the table
  3. cute vintage-style bottles of lemonade used as place card holders for ‘package tag’ name cards
  4. on the walls, the party menu displayed on what Jess describes as an ‘adhesive vintage chalkboard’ with a really fancy ornate border, plus more chalkboard signs for the candy bar, the guest book table, and the mocktails station
  5. on the candy bar, a tempting assortment of frosted cupcakes, jars of candy, cones filled with colored popcorn, and brown paper treat bags
  6. a sweet birthday cake on a vintage cake stand, of course, frosted in white and decorated with 3 red roses and a ‘16’ topper
  7. colorful fabric bunting strung overhead, lending the party area a youthful, festive air
  8. and for guests to leave their greetings, an actual manual typewriter serving as a ‘blast from the past’ alternative guest book!

We love stumbling upon party posts like this that prove that pulling together a lovely Sweet 16 celebration (or any event for that matter!) need not be overly elaborate or costly. And yet the party girl and her guests get to mark her milestone in a fun, memorable way.

All of these wonderful pictures were taken by Leanne Stamatellos. Thank you to Jess of Where My Heart Is for the sweet inspiration! Your creative party styling is sure to give mom-planners a huge boost of confidence to decorate and host their own at-home occasions!
