Tea Party Serveware for a Fab Food Display

Tiered pastry stands, cake plates, and pedestals for Mother's Day Tea Party

A major part of a tea party’s charm is the mismatched crockery that you can use. The entire table setting can feature pieces from an array of different tea sets (1, 2) creating a happy hodgepodge of colors and patterns. These could be part of a family collection that’s grown over the years. Or they could be borrowed pieces brought together for the occasion.

Tiered stands are the sweetest way to display pastries, scones, tea sandwiches and macarons—whether assembled from mismatched tea saucers (3) or come with a rack for sliding in plates or mini platters (5). A vintage glass cake plate with a domed cover (4) makes a lovely way to present the tea party cake (note: this one has a special rose pattern decoupaged on!). And the cake slices couldn’t look prettier than when served on pastel-colored and floral dessert plates (6)

Vintage Crockery Tea Pots and Teacups

Tea pots and teacups, of course, are the stars of such an occasion. And the selection of vintage (and vintage-style) pieces available in yard sales, antique shops and online is utterly delightful.

They can be used for more than just serving proper English tea, though. We noted how the tea pots (3, 5) with their gorgeous Victorian detailing would make striking decorative accents for the tables. While the teacups can serve as party favors filled with chocolate balls (1), as single-serve containers for cupcakes or pudding (2), or even as personalized gifts for Mom or her guests with monogrammed tea cups (4)!
