When you think of a nautical wedding theme, you normally envision snappy stripes, right? But why not give those stripes a trendy ‘bend’ and go for a chevron pattern in your styling elements? We gave this a try ourselves. And we found these great images to showcase how nautical and chevron can come together in a look that’s both contemporary and very elegant!
Think Chevron in Navy Blue and Yellow
– Start off with themed wedding invites! This mod example we found via Venue Safari (attributed to the etsy shop Paper by Jill M) uses a color trio of blue, white, and yellow to create a cool, contemporary look. The navy blue pennant graphic gives a nice nautical touch, and we’re guessing that’s the accompanying envelope in yellow chevron. Snazzy!
– This lovely table setting featured on Design Sponge couldn’t be farther from the sea (it’s actually from a gorgeous mountaintop wedding!). But it provides the perfect elegant look we had in mind—with the rich wood grain, bright yellow florals, and touches of gold. And of course, there’s the chevron pattern subtly applied in the centerpiece vases.
– A perfect complement to this theme would be a wedding bouquet of yellow and white blooms, like this one showcased on Pearled Kiss Weddings and Events. Love how it’s all tied together with a deep blue wrap and finished with mini starfish accents!
– Even your wedding cake can have that nautical flair via a blue-and-white band of chevron and the softening touch of gold fondant bows. This simple yet striking creation is attributed to Erica O’Brien Cake Design (image found via Pinterest), but if anyone can confirm the original source, we’d love to acknowledge it properly.
– Perhaps a Titanic theme wouldn’t exactly be your choice for a nautical wedding! But the design elements we found on this Titanic-inspired styled shoot from In Flight Ideas show how the glamour of that era can be mixed with modern touches. Take, for instance, this framed table number with a hip chevron background in yellow.
– For your place settings, how elegantly ‘shipshape’ are these navy blue table napkins with a simple white band printed with gold-foil anchors. We spotted this image on the personal blog Oh Gracie Pie, as originally seen on the awesome photography site of Elizabeth Jayne.
– Send your guests off with fun treats tucked inside these pretty chevron favor bags from The TomKat Studio party shop! They’re biodegradable and come in a pack of 12.
- To fill those bags with, why not saltwater taffy? These gourmet candies come in a unique cotton candy flavor and are sold in 3 lb. bags with approximately 65 pieces per bag. Available from the online store of Sweet Factory.
