Escort Card Ideas for a Rustic Thanksgiving Wedding

Pine cone place cards

Thanksgiving, a special time to get together with family and friends! And what could be more special than a wedding inspired by the rustic elements of the season? Let your guests know where to sit at the reception with escort cards that are objects gathered from nature. Perfect for decorative accents that suit the theme just so, but great for keeping costs down, too!

Let Nature Be Your Guide

1 – The cozy feel of autumn is extended all the way to the escort cards at this real fall-time wedding, featured on NC Wedding Minister Blog. Pine cones are a great choice, so easy to gather (for free!) and so charming to dress up with little name cards and leaf cutouts.

2 – Another variation would be to use stone escort cards. But this time with a bit of fancy calligraphy to dress them up. Found via Constance Curtis Events, we’d love to give credit to the original source (if anyone out there recognizes this photo)!

3 – Wooden discs cut from actual branches make perfect escort cards for a rustic or farm-themed reception. Guests’ names could be painted on one side, and their table numbers on the other. As The Natural Wedding Company comments, though, it’s the fabric scraps threaded through holes drilled into the wood discs that really add a quaint touch!

4 – Create a mini vegetable patch of sorts to display escort cards made of actual veggies! The bride and groom in this real wedding, featured on Love and Lavender, met at culinary school. So they pinned the guests’ names onto vegetables that corresponded to the centerpieces on each table at the reception! And for a Thanksgiving wedding, you can use assorted gourds and autumn fruits.

What Else Can You Find from Nature?

Just take a stroll through a forest or park, and you will find acorns, maple leaves, and twigs. You can also use shapely nuts like walnuts to form a place card holder. Small ears of dried corn are great, too!
