We don’t normally associate blue with fall, but when Pantone announced that Riverside Blue would be one of the top colors for fall of 2016, we were ready for the challenge of putting together an inspiration board anchored on blue hues that still manages to evoke the look and feel of autumn. How exactly did we approach this? By keeping it simple through rustic elements coupled with a modern and an undeniably sensible style!
Riverside Blue in an Autumn Palette of Relaxed Hues
Envision a natural fall look that is laidback and tranquil in tones of gray and even dusty lavender that work well with Riverside Blue. Start with invitations in a chic navy, chalk-inspired style. Opt for a natural and loose bouquet with minimal flowers, and instead uses elements like dried eucalyptus, feathers, hemp, and dried thistle. As for your bridesmaids, consider a trendy halter style gown with an open back in soft chiffon.
At the wedding reception, think of long bare wooden tables as your choice over round tables—allowing guest to freely choose their seats and you don’t have to worry about table numbers. Then, say “cheers” with a blueberry cocktail as your signature wedding cocktail!
In keeping with our relaxed mood, lavender garlands with tapered candles, and simple white china would be an elegant option for your table décor. Atop each guest’s place setting, give a homemade trail mix favor packaged in simple brown bags labeled with a pretty monogrammed sticker. Lastly, present a ruffled blue ombre wedding cake contrasted with a simple white florals as a cake topper.
