An airmail theme for a wedding has such a romantic air with a hint of nostalgia. After all, who mails actual letters these days? So with that iconic red and blue border as the unifying element, we thought how fun it would be to pull together a Par Avion Airmail Inspiration theme that’s both vintage and contemporary—with a hint of glam thrown in. Want some decorating inspiration? Here it is, winging its way right to you via these great ideas we found! The perfect theme for a bride and groom on a long distance relationship!
Unique Ideas for an Airmail Themed Wedding
1 – Airmail stickers – What a quaint design element these would make, dressing up your wedding decorations! Thanks to Paper Pastries, we found these good old Dennison brand airmail stickers in the cutest arrow shape (if no longer available at the link given, then certainly through other etsy vendors).
2 – Airmail escort cards – A travel theme is quite popular for weddings. But this wonderful real wedding featured on Ohana blog had an escort card display with that extra touch of tent cards made up to look like airmail envelopes.
3 – Red and blue trimmed cake – Admittedly, this was designed as an election-themed cake by Half Baked – The Cake Blog. But don’t those red and blue flourishes remind you of “mail in flight”? We thought so, too!
4 – Vintage post box ‘guest book’ alternative – How’s this throwback idea for a cool alternative guest book? A replica of a Post box where guests are invited to drop their postcards of wishes for the newlyweds! Found via Style Me Pretty! Photography by Yoonwonx Photography.
5 – Airmail heart sign – Love this vintage DIY project via In the Treehouse where stamps, bits of maps and airmail envelopes are all decoupaged together on a tin heart. Best if these are snippets of the couple’s own personal ‘travel’ or ‘long distance’ love story. What a lovely welcome sign detail this would make, then a sweet keepsake after the wedding!
6 – Airmail envelopes as menu cards – Speaking of travel, this comes from a real wedding all the way in Copenhagen, photographed by No Eye Has Seen Photography. Check out the clever use of an airmail envelope design for the menu cards! Plus old-style luggage tags for the place names.
7 – Themed wedding invites – You must have invitations that announce this motif, of course! Luckily, vendors like In the Treehouse (via Not on the High Street) have worked all the vintage airmail elements into the design for this nostalgic look.

I love that red, white, and navy wedding cake. The plate stand is cute, too.
