Hello again! You must have enjoyed our Idea #1 in this Winter Engagement Parties series, so you’re back to join us. But if you haven’t seen our first post yet, we’d love for you to take a look (just click on the link above)!
Each engagement dinner style we’re suggesting is quite unique, but all are suited to the winter season in their own way. This set all a-sparkle with glittery snowflakes and crystals is just one of them! So do come back for Ideas #3 and #4, too.
Think Winter Wonderland Sit-Down Dinner!
Capture the enchantment of sparkling snowflakes for a more formal engagement celebration. This could still be an intimate, at-home event but with a definite glam factor—thanks to all the glitter!
Decorating tips: Think “winter wonderland” for your table setting! Then, use that vision as your guide to bring together towering silver wire centerpieces (or bare branches spray-painted silver) encrusted with sparkling crystal beads, petite flower arrangements all in white, glass and metallic bowls filled with glass ice cubes and faux snow, and graceful taper candles in sleek modern holders.
Prepare place settings of crisp white dinnerware, silver cutlery, and snowflake-shaped menu cards. And to complete the magical look, rent ghost chairs and decorate them with snowflake decals! See our easy DIY on decorating ghost chairs.
Food and drinks: In keeping with the ambiance, we suggest a menu of an appetizer plate of cheese, nuts, crackers, and dried fruit; a clear or creamy soup; a light salad with crusty dinner rolls; an herbed fish or turkey entree; a choice of white wines; and all-white desserts such as baked Alaska, cream-filled crepes, and Russian tea cookies served with coffee or tea—in silver pots, of course!
Fun activities: A sit-down dinner doesn’t have to be stiff and boring. Plan something to break the ice (no pun intended!). For instance, have guests list down as many snow-related songs, movies, or places as they can think of. The one with the longest list per category wins! Prizes could be extra servings of dessert!
Favors to give: Edibles are always appreciated, like crystal candy dishes holding clear candy mints or beautiful silver-wrapped boxes filled with more of those Russian tea cookies. Or for something more lasting, maybe a set of crystal snowflake ornaments for each guest to hang on their own Christmas tree…and remember you each year!
So, will it be a winter wonderland motif for your engagement dinner? Or maybe you’d like to see what our next 2 party sets have in store for you. Great! We’ll be back soon!
