Throw a Haute Halloween Wedding with Vintage Details

Vintage Halloween decorations in black and white

Hoping to have an elegant Halloween-themed wedding celebration? It can be done! One stylish approach would be to go vintage in your decorations, rather than goth and ghastly or else cutesy and colorful. And we have just the finds to inspire a memorable and intimate soiree—revolving around ravens, chandeliers, candlesticks, and black lace. You might call it “haute horror”!

Inspiration board for vintage Halloween wedding

1 – This decorated mantel from Flamingo Toes (found via Small Home Love) is chock full of fun and freaky ideas! You may want to skip the roaches, but check out the creepy wreath, the vintage frames and candlesticks, and the pennant-style banner flanked by elegant black bows. Do visit the post to see the great details up close!

2 – Your party’s welcome sign could play up the popular “We’ve been booed!” concept. Just give it a glam air with a graphic of an antique chandelier—complete with glued-on crystals for a bit of bling, plus a chic black-and-white striped bow for hanging. Thanks to The TomKat Studio for the great printable!

3 – Remember the raven that quoth “Nevermore”? Well, your invitations can revive that iconic bird of Edgar Allan Poe fame, as in this set available at the etsy shop Kindly Spoken. We love the worn, smudgy effect that gives just the right Old World air.

4 – Wine bottles with vintage-inspired labels are another great themed element. But look more closely and you’ll see the Halloween angle, as they claim to hold deadly contents! An amusing idea featured on The Knotty Bride, by guest blogger Melissa of The Loveliest Day—and a fun conversation starter, too!

5 – Your place settings should be equally stylish, too. Bright, Bold & Beautiful offers a surprisingly doable approach: white table cloth, black and white place mats, black and silver trimmed dinnerware and fancy goblets, then a scattering of black leaves with silver glitter for a sinister finishing touch!

6 – Snippets of black lace grace this elegant two-tiered wedding cake by La Joconde Cakes. Perfect inspiration for how to keep within a black and white Halloween palette without necessarily going creepy or ghoulish. Love this!

7 – Take-home candy bags can go grown-up and glam for the occasion as well. These examples from the real wedding of Flora and Fauna Press-owner Christine (showcased on Oh So Beautiful Paper) feature a lovely black-on-white floral design in letterpress, no less!

8 – This Halloween-themed console table, styled by Sherry of Young House Love, offers fab ideas for a wedding welcome display or guest book station. If you take a peek at the full post, you’ll see all the clever and creative ways she came up with decorations on a very affordable budget!

9 – What would a Halloween theme be without candles? Again, go stylish and sophisticated by adding a wrap of black lace around votive holders like these. Featured on the Blue Velvet Chair (plus a number of other sites), this is a great DIY project whose source link seems to be inactive. But we just so happen to have a lace candle holder tutorial of our own.

10 – Raven love birds for a wedding cake topper? Why not! Too darling to be scary, this pair offered at the etsy shop Becky Kazana is still in the requisite black for Halloween—but with whimsical bride and groom accessories befitting the occasion.
