After all, it’s being together that matters, and not any fancy restaurant meal or expensive entertainment. With a tastefully styled table and well-chosen dishes and drinks, you can have the perfect date setting—capped by fun Valentine’s gifts for one another! Let these finds give you some sweet inspiration. Who knows? This could turn into a surprise proposal date!

Plan Your Own Memorable Valentine’s Dinner Date

Valentine's dinner date ideas for home

1 – We love the simple appeal of this table setting for two from the German interior design blog Minimalisti. The elements that caught our eye? The black and white table runner that looks like a strip of ‘fabric chalkboard’ (perfect for writing meaningful messages or quotes) and the hip centerpiece of white pillar candles lined up on a red-tinted glass dish. So cool!

2 – To start off the evening on a ‘Mediterranean note’, we recommend a cheese board as simple, yet enticing as this one we found on Pinterest (wish we could credit the original image source!). Just a sampler of your favorite soft and hard cheeses, with walnuts and raisins—plus you could add fresh grapes, pear slices, and crisp gourmet crackers.

3 – A pink-tinted drink is perfect for the occasion. This one from Life Should Be Beautiful is a Raspberry Rose Collins, containing gin, lemon juice, syrup, and fresh raspberries (both in the mix and as garnish). You could certainly serve champagne, too, or your favorite wine—red, white, or sparkling!

4 – Kick off the Mediterranean-inspired menu with a quick and easy Greek-style scampi—with shrimp, olive oil, fresh tomatoes, and feta cheese! This recipe is courtesy of Cooking and promises to be doable in the time it takes to boil the accompanying pasta. Why waste time at a hot stove when your date awaits, right?

5 – This whimsical book by cartoonists Lisa Swerling and Ralph Lazar is the perfect way to start off your Valentine’s dinner date. See Barnes and Nobles for more details!

6 – For a sweet ending to your meal, a light Tirasimu cake would be just the thing! As so temptingly described on Pastry Affair, this Italian delicacy is soaked in espresso, covered with a creamy mascarpone frosting, sprinkled with cocoa powder and topped with chocolate shavings. And for a special finishing touch, the border of lady fingers is tied in place with a pretty ribbon!

7 – To pair with the pasta, a hearty choice would be Merchant Gourmet’s Rustic Italian Pizza. Don’t those slices of parma ham, sundried tomatoes, and Parmesan cheese shavings look mouthwatering together? Well, they do say the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, don’t they?

8 – A Valentine’s surprise for her? Why not a candy apple red ipod! This image found via the tumblr account Too Cute to Eat captures the hot color so well. Every time she uses this device, what a fab constant reminder it will be of this special dinner date!

9 – A gift for him as well, of course! And why not something red, too? We came upon this cool iPod Nano 6G case with LunaTik wrist strap via Pinterest. It would be great with a casual outfit or sports gear, and is also available in black, yellow, and silver.

10 – You won’t believe how easy it is to make these Valentine’s petit fours! Visit the blog of I am a Baker and see how you can make these treats using Oreo Cakesters and rolled fondant from Wilton.
