Make Your Valentine’s Favors as Sweet as the Day Itself

Sweet ideas for Valentine favors

Sweetness is definitely in the air come Valentine’s season. So it’s only fitting to have sugary treats as favors at your February wedding! From chocolates to candies to cookies to caramel apples, the choices of goodies to give can be truly mouth-watering—not to mention mind-boggling.

So, we’d like to ease the selection process a bit by showing how virtually any Valentine’s treats of your choice can be transformed into gorgeous favors with the proper packaging. Then, of course, you’ve got to show them off to best advantage at the reception!

Specialty Candies in Luxurious Fabric Wraps

Fill a keepsake container with Valentine’s sweets, then give it an extra-special finish with a wrap of deep red organza.

Candy suppliers offer a slew of special-edition Valentine’s candies as the season of love draws near. So all you have to do is select the ones that suit the look and flavor you prefer (easier said than done, we know!). Then, place them in keepsake containers, and bundle them up in fabric wraps for a fancy finish.

In keeping with the luxurious Valentine’s tablescape we styled, for example, we used deep red organza to match the favors with the place settings. But you could also opt for sugar pink wraps if you’re planning a pastel motif, or use tulle, lace, or chiffon fabric.

For some ideas for favor fillings, the treats below are just a sampling of what’s available:

  1. Lindt® Valentine Lindor truffles
  2. Chocolate mint truffle squares in red heart wrappers
  3. Valentine chocolate cordials candy balls
  4. Amorini silver-coated chocolate hearts
  5. Valentine chocolate malt balls
  6. Cinnamon hearts nougat fluff taffy
  7. York® Peppermint Pattie hearts candy
  8. Reese’s® peanut butter filled chocolate hearts

Candy Apples to Mimic “Sweet Hearts”

Valentine's candy apples
Even the humble candy apple can take its place at an elegant Valentine wedding. Just present it in style atop each place setting!

Fresh apples are another whimsical wedding favor idea for Valentine’s. They do approximate a heart shape after all. And when they’re presented as everyone’s favorite candy apple, you’ve got a “sweet heart” deal right there!

Our example is entirely dipped in melted chocolate and covered with red candy sprinkles. So, to make it part of the place setting decor, we simply enclosed it in clear cello wrap with a gold twist tie, and added a thank-you tag.

Hint: If you’d like to give non-candy edibles as favors, consider red strawberries, raspberries, or cranberries presented in petite favor baskets. Valentine-pretty just the same!

Cookies to Candies in Sheer Favor Pouches

Organza pouches with candies
Offer guests a sneak peek of the edible favors they’ll be enjoying, by packaging the treats in sheer pouches embroidered with roses.

A third sweet option would be to use sheer favor bags, like dainty embroidered sachets, to show off the Valentine treats you’ve chosen to give. Here, our raspberry candy fillings coordinate perfectly with the red and white color palette, as they welcome each guest to their seats.

Not only are the goodies visible through the fabric, but the pouches are flexible enough to hold odd-shaped treats like:

  1. Home-baked or store-bought cookies decorated in pretty Valentine designs
  2. Strawberry flavored meringue cookies
  3. Charms® Valentine pops
  4. 3D Candy red rose lollipops
  5. Red raspberry candy hearts

Simply add a favor tag with a personalized message, and these are ready to give!

Romantic Rose Pomanders Filled with Sweetness

Bring a touch of vintage elegance to your tables with favor sachets in the sweetest pink.

Finally, you can take a break from the Valentine red with vintage-style pomander shaped bags in soft powder pink. These lovely favor containers can later hold scented rose petals as drawer fresheners (you may even tuck in a little tag that suggests this to guests). But at the wedding party, you can fill them with more choices of Valentine’s sweets—in matching pink, of course!

  1. Dove® milk chocolate hearts in pink or silver foil wrappers
  2. Pink Hershey’s® raspberry hugs
  3. Pink and silver Hugs & Kisses® chocolate candy
  4. Jelly Belly® Valentine’s conversation jelly beans
  5. Nonpareils pectin cherry hearts
  6. Cherry-colored M&Ms®
  7. Red-foil wrapped chocolate hearts

Here’s wishing you a sweeter-than-sweet Valentine’s season wedding!

  1. Kathy MacCutcheon

I am looking for individually wrapped candied apples (the ones coated in red hard candy) for a wedding favor. I see the ones you have depicted for a Valentine’s wedding and the can also work, except that the red of our wedding is more a dark red (like fall leaves.). The wedding is in October. Can you offer any suggestions? And what is the cost of your apples? What kind of apples do you use? How long will they last? (Sorry for all the questions.). I live in the Washington DC area.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Thank you.

  2. Hello Kathy! We did a little online search to help you out. And since you mentioned you’re looking for the apples with the red hard-candy coating, this is one link to a supplier that might do:

Otherwise, you can also try using Yelp to do a search for other suppliers. Have a wonderful October wedding!
