At a rustic-themed summer wedding, what a sweet surprise to give guests jars of strawberry jam as favors! If it’s homemade from a treasured family recipe, that would make it an extra-special treat. And if you package it with quaint country charm—like these 10 adorable finds below—your favors will even double up as part of the heartwarming reception décor!
Quaint Country Packaging Ideas for Strawberry Jam Favors
A jar of jam is a jar of jam, you might say. But you can definitely up the appeal factor to ‘wedding favor-worthy’ by presenting each jar with rustic-chic packaging as shown here.
Let’s start with the jars themselves. Mini-size jars are always delightful (5). And mason or Ball jars are practical since they can be re-used once the jam is all gone! The type used for canning preserves often has those removable lid-centers (2), making them great for holding fabric toppers in place.
Labels give a polished look. You can hand write your labels on kraft paper for that personalized feel. Or else opt for printables you can download, as there are literally hundreds of ready-made designs to choose from online. You may also have labels customized by your printer to match your invitation suite (9).
Fabric toppers add color and charm. Gingham checks are a traditional fabric topper favorite (1), but you can also go with a strawberry print (of course!) or tiny florals. Soft burlap or linen toppers (8) would be perfect for a rustic theme. Or you could also bundle up the entire jar in a tulle wrap (10) or organza wrap.
Hint: If cutting circles from cloth proves tricky, you can actually cut squares. Once they’re tied in place on the jars, the uneven edges add to the handmade look!
Paper toppers are a great alternative. Plus they’re easier to cut than fabric! Choose from patterned gift wrapping paper (3), colored wax paper (7), or dainty paper doilies.
Tags personalize your favors. For that final bit of flair, add favor tags (6) that have your monogram, your wedding date, or a simple thank-you. The tags can even be escort cards ‘in disguise’ (4)! Simply present the jam jars on the welcome table for guests to take and find their tables.
Twine ties or ribbon provide the finishing touch. Finally, finish each jar with twine, colored ribbon, or straw—and perhaps some tiny strawberry charms or wooden beads—and your strawberry jam favors are ready to go!
