Popstar princess for a night! Now isn’t that every girl’s dream for her Sweet 16 birthday bash? Make that wish come true for your special young lady with a party theme worthy of Hollywood’s hottest young celebrities. Create a party entryway just like they have at those grand Hollywood events—complete with a red carpet, ribboned stanchions to line the way, a flowing curtain (in pink for Sweet 16), and of course a custom theater marquee sign ablaze with lightbulbs! You can even have a pro photo team pose as paparazzi, snapping away as the young people arrive, chat and mingle, and walk the red carpet to enter the party! Then prints of the resulting photos can be given later as fun mementos as guests leave.

That’s exactly what we were aiming for when styling the guest tables with a pink-and-black palette, lace, glitter, crystals, mini floral arrangements, glowing candles, and towering glass cylinders holding celeb-worthy ostrich feathers!

Create Fab Centerpieces and Place Settings

Come time to take their seats, have the guests feel transported to a world of glitz and glamour. Lay out a luxe table runner in black and silver brocade and top this with a nearly end-to-end composite centerpiece. Include in that centerpiece petite flower arrangements of pink carnations (dainty pink rose buds would be lovely too!) placed in crystal vases and glitter-covered cubes. In similarly glitzy containers and candlesticks, set out a variety of glowing white candles matched by a chic rhinestone-style table number.

You can never have too much sparkle and shine at a star-studded event like this. So up close, you can see how we added even more gem-like touches to the table elements. We wrapped glass cube vases in sheets of adhesive-backed crystals (see our candle tutorial here), and added random jewel dots to clear glass vases and whatever other surfaces we could find! Magical, don’t you agree?

Don’t stop there! Keep the glitter going onto other elements and accessories. Here, we crafted fab VIP guest passes specially designed and personalized for the occasion, with each one mounted on silvery cardstock and laminated like a real pass to an exclusive event. Another fun take-home keepsake for the guests! Even the ultra-modern ghost chairs got their share of glam, with each guest’s name spelled out in crystal decals in place of the usual place cards. Neat idea, if we do say so ourselves!

Give Sparkly Favors Fit for a Popstar

Finally, what would a Sweet 16 popstar princess give as thank-you favors? Why definitely something fancy and flashy to remind guests of this one night in tinsel town! Our idea was to come up with something glitzy enough to suit the theme, but actually DIYable (the birthday girl could even make these herself). Voila! Rhinestone favor pens for all the guests, completely covered in sparkly bling and presented in satin-covered boxes!
