Beach weddings have an enchantment all their own! The ambiance that the seaside surroundings bring to your event provides half the decor you will ever need. Particularly when you take a more muted, subtle approach to your wedding decorations—as we’re presenting here—you allow the waves, the wind, the sand, and nature’s colors, materials, and textures to work their own special magic!
Inspiring Details for a Contemporary Seaside Soiree
1 – In keeping with the understated decor, even your wedding cake can be this stylized and still beautiful! In fact, the entire styled shoot by Tara Whittaker Photography showcased on Wedding Obsession is a treasure trove of beach wedding decorative details. Be prepared to take notes!
2 – To be honest, we fell in love with this photo from a real wedding on Style Unveiled more for its overall mood and beauty rather than particular design details. (Although, of course, that parasol is just darling!) Do visit the full post for a fabulous example of a palette of neutrals used throughout, with just the subtlest touches of soft aquamarine and sea glass green.
3 – Create a relaxed, intimate mood by grouping small tables looking out onto the beach, like this one by Pacific Weddings featured on Imbue You I Do. Prepare low wooden tables surrounded by comfy floor pillows, with dangling shell streamers and delicate fabric drapery hanging overhead. Again, note the lovely neutrals-and-turquoise palette!
4 – An alternative centerpiece idea we found on Lillyella is oh so simple, yet stylish! The elements? Sand, sea stones, small pieces of driftwood, pillar candles, and one white bowl to hold them all. Artful placement (the stacked stones) and clever little touches (the crochet cover for the top stone) are what make this piece special. Now, are you inspired?!
5 – White clay ornaments in the shape of seashells and starfish, like these available at the Beach House Living etsy shop, would make the most delightful favors! They could first serve as escort cards or place cards at the reception, or even as hanging wind chimes catching the ocean breeze. Then, guests get to take them home as wonderful mementos of this occasion!
6 – DIY accents are perfect for a beach wedding, with their handmade look and their personal touch! As featured on One Stylish Bride, something as simple as the ever-versatile mason jar serving as a table number holder would be charming. The heart-shaped tags here are from Morgann Hill Designs on etsy. In keeping with the theme, you could fill the jars with sand and seashells accented with sea glass!
7 – For stunning centerpieces, take shapely bottles, vases, and other containers of blue-tinted glass. Accent them with raw hemp or twine, and fill them with unusual blooms, twigs, and sea grass. This gorgeous grouping we found on Para Ti Novia (images by She Wanders) is just one of many inspiring details from a real beach wedding!
