Having a vintage theme for your wedding? Then, you’ve probably done your share of thrifting, visiting antique stores and flea markets, and borrowing quaint decor pieces to dress up your ceremony and wedding reception. You may even have decided to handcraft your own vintage-style wedding elements.
Something Special to Carry Down the Aisle!
But have you thought about the flowers you’ll be carrying down the aisle? Is there, in fact, such a thing as a vintage bouquet? Well, we have our own take on a sweet and simple bridal arrangement and boutonniere from our Vintage Travel-themed Wedding—along with some very helpful links that we found on the web. Hope these get the inspiration going for your own lovely wedding florals!
Romance is what the vintage style is all about. Soft, muted colors; feminine, frilly touches; and a demure Old World charm. In other words, a look right out of a Jane Austen novel!
So, for our bouquet, we chose a color palette of ivory, blush pink, and a hint of cherry red using a combination of delicate roses, peonies, poppies, and ruffly-edged carnations. The effect we aimed for was that of a variety of gorgeous blooms freshly picked from an English country garden, hand-tied with satin ribbon, and trimmed with pearl strands. How’s that for a nice, vintage touch!
Then, for the groom’s and groomsmen’s boutonnieres, we crafted single silk blooms with a bit of greenery and a tiny cluster of pearls. Quite simple, but still with that bygone era look to suit our vintage travel theme.
How about you? What would your flower choices be for a vintage wedding bouquet and matching boutonnieres?
