Fabulous Feature: A French-inspired Table Setting

Elegant French table setting

For this Fabulous Feature, we mean just that! Here is one styled table setting with the look of a French country home that truly melted our hearts. It is fabulous in its simplicity and subtlety, only proving that you need not go overboard to achieve this same effect for an intimate French-themed bridal shower brunch or wine-and-cheese party! And who is the styling talent behind this lovely setting? It’s Tracey of the oh-so-charming blog French Larkspur!

Reading Tracey’s profile and about this wonderful site, it actually became clear how such a delightful table setting came to be. “I am a vintage-loving decorator with a passion for photography,” is how she describes herself. “Those are my creative outlets, styling and photography, and I have been overjoyed to find that one passion feeds off of the other.” Treat yourself to a browse through French Larkspur, and you’ll see how so true that is!

The charm of this French-inspired tablescape begins with the burlap yardage Tracey used for the table covering, plus her favorite ironstone dishes and vintage silverware. For the napkins, she brought in striped linen tea towels from (not the south of France!) Ikea! Love that!

The darling touches she added to establish the theme? A paper strip torn from a page of French text wrapped around the napkins and tied with twine and a sprig of fresh dill, small franc dishes serving as bread plates, and a scattering of vintage French stamps.

Serving as a backdrop is a lovely mantel displaying gorgeous mercury glass candlesticks, votive candles, and loose pages from old French books.

Just below the mantel, Tracey set up a wine crate filled with bottles of sparkling water and wine. Alongside, she placed a country-style pitcher holding what look like sprigs of lavender. And for guest favors, she prepared little spice bags marked Provence as delightful reminders of this French-themed setting!

Now, how can your guests not fall in love with an ambiance styled with such charm and grace? We know we did!
