We can totally see why couples choose fall for their wedding date. This lovely season is a decorator’s dream! It’s all about rich, earthy colors; organic, woodsy textures; and just an overall sense of coziness and warmth. So for all of you tying the knot at this time of the year, we thought we’d gather together some fall decorating inspiration to help you make the most of all these charms—but with a modern-rustic flair!
When planning a fall wedding, consider these decorating tips to bring out the best aspects of the season:
- Rich colors – Conventional though it may seem, you just can’t deny the natural beauty of an autumn color palette. For your own wedding styling, you have a choice of highlighting the intense reds, plums, browns, and oranges; focusing on neutrals like wheat and ivory; or playing up shades of green like sage and olive. Be sure to check out our very own styled shoot for an elegant autumn table!
- Natural textures and materials – Textures just seem more prominent during this season. So take advantage of this and bring in elements with lovely wood grain, tree bark, woven fabrics, basketry, stoneware, and the like.
- Select venue decorations and table elements in materials such as cotton, linen, muslin, burlap, jute, and hessian; while to tie or attach accents, think raffia, straw, or twine.
- Florals, fruits, and fall produce – If it’s vibrant colors and rich textures you want, an ideal place to find them is in the season’s very own blooms and produce. Choose from among roses, dahlias, gerbera daisies, calla lilies, chrysanthemums, and alstromeria—to name just the most popular autumn flowers. For fruits, you could decorate with apples, pears, cranberries, and grapes; while for produce, you have pumpkins, squash, and other gourds, plus assorted nuts, figs, and dates.
