Retro chic in pink sounds like a charming wedding theme, doesn’t it? Well, charming isn’t the only appealing quality about this real wedding with this motif that we discovered on the Irish blog Bride and Joy. Personal, fun, unique, quirky also come to mind (do visit the full post to see what we mean)! We knew we just had to share this as a Fabulous Feature. It shows how couples can dare to be different and have a wedding full of character—their own!
Pretty Pink! Such Lovely Details!
It all starts out quite conventional. We see the groom in classic grey tails and a cravat and the bride in a pink and white ball gown-style dress. But wait! She has a hot pink streak in her hair, and a pair of blinged-up wedge heels to match. And as the bride reveals, she made the dress herself and “the majority of the wedding was a DIY project, from flowers to table decoration to cravats, bridesmaid dresses and even my shoes!”
Then, again, the reception setting is a lovely vision in pristine white with floral centerpieces for just subtle touches of pink. White draped ceiling, hanging paper lanterns in white and powder pink, and glittery silver hearts.
But cut to the ‘sweetie bar’ and photo booth, and we see the couple’s fun personality emerge once more! Isn’t that hot pink-striped ‘Karl Lagerfeld Diet Coke’ just so clever and cute? And what seems to be a misplaced living room scene is actually the wedding photo booth! Those framed portraits on the wall are live!
Finally, to ferry the wedding party around, a vintage VW combi was decked out in hot pink ribbons, too. Love their dog, by the way, a gorgeous Irish setter of course!
To sum up this unique and truly personal wedding, we couldn’t have said it better than these words from the couple. “…Everyone enjoying our day made all the planning worthwhile. We love nothing more than having fun. Life is short and you don’t have to take everything so serious. Laugh, dance, sing and sparkle.”
