Remember when designing your wedding cake basically involved color choice, number of tiers, frosting and filling, and what type of topper? Well, no more. Today’s options for wedding cakes are virtually limitless, with some of the coolest and hippest concepts coming to life in baked form! Here we share 14 creations that show just how ‘out of the cake box’ today’s wedding cakes are! Could one be for you?

1 – Color blocking ‘pop art’ motif (Cake Central) – This mod cake was reportedly inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s famed 1962 work “The Kiss II”.

2 – Andy Warhol graphics (Wedluxe) – Note the iconic Warhol graphics: the lips, the stylized florals, the banana.

3 – Andy Warhol sculpted cake (Pastry Live) – This ‘Art of Cake 2012’ winning creation incorporates quirky details from Warhol’s most renowned works, plus a caricature figure of the artist himself.

4 – ‘Pixel’ petit fours (House of Origin) – Not really sure if pixels were the inspiration for this truly unique deconstructed cake, but that was the apt description in the Once Wed post where we found it!

6 – Purple candy and pics (via Arabia Weddings) – Purple and lilac candies create an interesting mosaic-like finish, and the couple’s photos serve as toppers!

8 – Gamer-inspired (Whipped Bakeshop) – The perfect cake for the video-game obsessed bride and groom!

1 – Papel picado-inspired (A Sweet Design on flickr) – Here, the famed Mexican paper bunting is translated into fondant in sweet blue ombre.
