Creative Decor Ideas for Presenting Wedding Wish Trees!

Colorful card stocks as wishing cards for a wish tree

We’re not talking stately oaks or romantic willows here. We’re actually showcasing wedding trees of the indoor, tabletop variety (except for one) and how charmingly they can serve different purposes at your reception. Think wishing trees as an alternative to the traditional guest book. Or perhaps delightful displays for escort cards or favors. Or just striking accent pieces in keeping with your theme.

“Tree Chic” Decorations for the Wedding Reception!

As these wonderful examples show below, trees can be practical, interactive, and decorative wedding elements all in one!

Wedding wish tree ideas from using real trees to tabletop varieties to faux branches in vases

The “tree chic” details we noted in these fabulous finds:

1 – Sweet bird-shaped cards in little nests tucked into manzanita branches [Martha Stewart Weddings, via The Lane]

2 – Strands of faux pearls and crystal gemstones draped on gold-painted bare branches [via Wedding Bee]

3 – Fresh flowers as single buds, hanging pomanders, and filling the base of this colorful wishing tree [via San Diego Wedding Scene]

4 – Branches of spring blossoms in an earthenware jar hold leaf cutouts with guests’ greetings [Olivia Leigh Photographie, via Jam Wedding]

5 – Similar idea to #4 but in a tall cylinder vase [via Lowry Bourgeois]

6 – Over 400 fresh roses in blush, beige, ivory and gold adorn this towering wishing tree display [One Wedding Wish]

7 – A life-size tree, abloom with white flowers in its branches and at its base, presents escort cards on long, dangling ribbons [via The Knot]

8 – Card stock with colorful patterns creates a fresh, whimsical look for this wishing tree [Pieper’s Timeless Memories on etsy, via Rew Elliott Style]

Our Recommendations for Making Show-Stopping Wedding Decorations:

  1. Take full advantage of the natural charms of bare tree branches, showing off their interesting shapes and woody texture by contrasting these with accents that are quite the opposite: sparkly crystals, fluffy blooms, dainty ribbons.
  2. If you can manage to have a full-size tree at your reception, dress it up with themed decorations and illuminate it with fairy lights. That alone will be a stunning statement piece!
  3. A table-top tree is always charming. It provides the perfect chance to show off your crafty skills with trimmings like leaf cutouts, paper or fabric flowers, little birds or butterflies. Plus it’s an ideal display for cards, photos, guest wishes, even wedding favors.
