Green, Glorious Green: Inspiration for a St. Patrick’s Day Dessert Table

Sweets Table

See a green-themed party display and you think, “This must be for St. Patrick’s Day!” Well, this absolutely gorgeous dessert table designed by Principal Planner (Azar Jazestani Events) never even hints at the iconic Irish celebration—in fact, its actual post title is “Montreal Sweet Table: Urban Design.” But we were so floored by its stylish and elegant use of green that we just had to present it as inspiration for a St. Patrick’s Day event.

For couples who may be wishing for a wedding setting inspired by the Green Isle but vow against using anything kitschy, this may just be the approach for you! Since the color itself is so associated with anything Irish, you need not have a single shamrock, leprechaun, or pot of gold in sight—and still pay your respects to good old St. Paddy.

Now, let’s allow this fabulous dessert table to demonstrate some glorious, glamorous ways with green!

We just love the overall sleek, modern look of this dessert table—with every element tied to all the rest via the striking green and white palette! As stylist Ms. Azar herself reveals, one of her favorite elements in this set (and ours, too) is the mural backdrop where the paper pom poms are actually painted on by her friend Margherita Terrone.

Then guided by a true stylist’s eye, every sweet treat on this table is a decorative accent in itself! Note how the chic trellis pattern is used repeatedly, along with the green and white motif with pops of deep blue.

Just swoon over the lovely four-tiered cake by The Caketress, featuring the trellis pattern in silver plus clusters of frilly blossoms in green, white, and blue. White frosted cupcakes with green and blue “button” toppers are served on modern trays bearing the same trellis design, as are tempting green cake pops. Square cookies are iced with the same trellis pattern in green and white, while pretzel rods and tri-color marshmallows sport more hints of blue as they are displayed in simple glasses and candy jars.

All in all, a truly tasteful and stylish display to inspire any green-themed event, whether for St. Patrick’s Day or not!

There’s quite a range of ideas to choose from — from centerpieces with actual leprechauns in them, or more subtle ones using leprechaun symbols. Hope this helps!
