Simple Ways to Throw a Chic Valentine’s Bridal Shower

Valentine's menu card with jelly beans

We’re all familiar with the Valentine look that’s all frilly, lacy and romantic. But why not consider a more trendy vibe for a bridal shower during this ‘season of hearts’? Modern graphics, clean lines, a crisp palette are the key elements we suggest to add a bit of sass to the usual Valentine sweetness. Take some hip tips from these ideas we found for the cutest Valentine’s bridal shower!

1 – Your menu cards and favor tags can make a bold statement in red and white, like these from Azulsahara’s ‘Poppy Love’ (love that clever name!) invitation suite. The color of bright red poppies is so vibrant, it’s sure to make your table settings and guest gifts…well, pop!

2 – Thanks to Darling Darleen for sparking a Valentine centerpiece idea with a difference. Instead of the conventional arrangement of red roses, this image made us think: why not have single red tulips in brown paper bags grouped (or placed singly) at center table? Then, guests can each take these home as favors afterwards!

3 – What about a DIY ceiling accent or a backdrop for your buffet or sweets table? Isn’t this Valentine garland we found at The Creative Place just perfect? We love the mix-and-match of paper colors and patterns stitched together at random (some in a 3D effect) and the fact that 10 meters of it can be made in just 20 minutes—from punching to sewing! 4 – Delight the bride-to-be with a sweet and simple Valentine’s-themed cake. And how much more darling could it get than this creation by Leoni of Just Call Me Martha? Inspired by the adorable ‘Sweet Heart’ line of Kikki K, she decorated her cake with tiny heart bunting and made a whole array of coordinated treats, too (check out the full post)!

5 – A little DIY project to personalize your event? These cute cupid’s arrow place cards are a great example. Crafted by Andrea Gray of A Gray blog, they’re simply felt cutouts on a bamboo stick with a paper heart for the name. But it’s that balancing act on a glass of champagne that makes it ‘ready to party’!

6 – In keeping with the graphic look, we thought these classic origami cranes by Little Sweet Cottage (via Art Fire) would make quaint place card holders! What’s Valentine about them? Look closely and you’ll see they’re folded from heart-print wrapping paper. Plus, cranes are believed to bring good fortune. So they’d make sweet party favors for the guests and maybe a decorative mobile for the bride to remember this fun occasion!

7 – ‘Love’ place settings from Italian design house Guzzini convey the exact air of contemporary chic we’re looking for. Created by Japanese porcelain designers Shetsu and Shinobu Ito, they feature a cool heart graphic and hip square shape. Lighthearted, but not cutesy!
