Want to create these tables yourself? Try some of these tips for planning your own arrangement:

  1. As a display base, pull out an antique piece of furniture you may have or can borrow. This could be an old dresser, kitchen cupboard, antique writing desk, or bar cart. You may also try flea markets and thrift stores!
  2. If a plain kitchen table is all you have, simply cover it over with a pretty lace tablecloth or a linen one with ruffles added.
  3. Add on more vintage linens like crocheted doilies, place mats, or runners, as well as dainty embroidered napkins or handkerchiefs.
  4. For a rustic touch, you may combine these delicate pieces with rough-textured fabrics like burlap or jute. Consider tree stumps for displaying your containers, too!
  5. To show off all the candies and sweets, use a charming mix of containers and serve ware—from cake stands to apothecary jars, milk glass or hobnail bowls to depression glass containers, candy store bottles to old-fashioned cookie jars.
  6. As a backdrop, you could set out a quaint sign in an antique frame, a delicate wooden screen, a curtain of fabric strips, or your monogram hanging on ribbon.
  7. For added ‘atmosphere,’ bring in accents like vintage suitcases, cameras, old photos, books, hats, shawls—even a fancy ostrich feather or two!
  8. Finally, if you’re going for a shabby chic slant to your display, hang floral-print or burlap bunting above or in front of your table, and tuck in little vases of fresh flowers here and there.

Then, of course, the candies themselves should be of the vintage variety and if possible from the original nostalgic brands. From their packaging to their classic flavors, these are certain to transport you and your guests back in time! Think old-style lollipops and suckers, chocolate bars, fruit jellies, chewy caramels, licorice, jelly beans, sour balls, marshmallows, gumballs, chewing gum sticks, bubble gum, jawbreakers, taffy, peppermint balls, maybe even some cotton candy.
